As Muslim's however, we refer to the Quran and Sunnah for knowledge (rather than opinions, feelings and guesses) about the hereafter.
"Let not those who are miserly with that which Allah has given them of His bounty think that it is good for them. Nay, it is bad for them. That which they covetously withheld will be clasped around their necks on the Day of Resurrection. And to Allah belongs the heritage of the Heavens and the Earth. And Allah is well-acquainted with what you do."
Sura Al-Imran (3:180)
On the authority of Abu Umamah: he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) "Recite the Qur'an, for it is an intercessor for its people on the Day of Resurrection, and recite the Two Radiant Ones (Al-Baqarah, and Al-Imran), for the two of them clouds or two canopies...arguing for their people [i.e those who recited them] on the Day of Resurrection."
Narrated by Ahmad and Muslim
The World of the Hereafter is one which is foreign and unfamiliar to our present experience.
In it truth prevails and every individual will face what he or she has sent forward. There, the people's very appearances will betray them.
"On the day when [some] faces will become white [with radiance], and [other] faces will become black. As for those whose faces will be blackened [it will be said], 'Did you disbelieve after your faith?! So, taste the punishment for having disbelieved!' And, as for those whose faces shall be made white [with radiance], [they shall be] in the mercy of Allah; they shall abide therein."
Sura Al-Imran (3:106-107)
"The guilty ones shall be recognized by their marks, so that they shall be seized by [their] forelocks and feet."
Sura Al-Rahman (55:41)
Many things which were previously intangible will become manifested as real, observable entities.
Among those that will materialize are deeds, both good and bad:
"On the day when every soul shall be confronted with whatever good it has done. And, [as for] whatever bad it has done, it will wish that there were a great distance between it and [its evil]."
Sura Al-Imran (3:30)
"And they will find what they did placed before them."
Sura Al-Kahf (18:49)
